Reptiles

Girraween's granite landscape provides an ideal home for many reptiles. During the day, look for lizards and snakes sunning themselves on the rocks and freshwater turtles basking on fallen logs in the waterways. At night, keep an eye out for geckos. One species of gecko — the Leaf-tailed Gecko — is only found in the Girraween area.

Lizards
Many different types of lizard call Girraween their home — skinks, geckos, monitors and dragons!

Snakes
Remember, many Australian snakes are venomous, so it is wise to keep your distance should you see one.

Turtles
Three species of freshwater turtle live in Girraween, including the endangered Bell's turtle.
