Girraween's frogs can be seen and more often heard in the sedges and grasses growing in swamps, along the creek banks and by isolated pools. The emerald spotted treefrog likes to cling to tree branches that overhang water. After rain, you may come across an ornate burrowing frog, sitting in the gutter beside a walking track. The most commonly encountered frogs are the Pobblebonk, Meowing Frog and the Stony Creek Frog.

Treefrogs
A tree frog is any frog that spends most of its life in trees. They have large pads on their toes to help grip onto vertical surfaces.

Rocket Frogs
Rocket frogs get their name from their long pointed noses. With their extra long hind legs, they have an extraordinary leaping ability.

Large Ground-dwelling Frogs
(from 45 to 80mm length)
Ground-dwelling frogs generally lack the adaptations of aquatic and tree frogs. Most have smaller toe pads, if any, and little webbing on their feet.

|
Small Ground-dwelling Frogs or "Toadlets"
(up to 30mm length)
Ground-dwelling frogs vary greatly in size, shape, colour and behaviour. Their back legs are usually quite muscular.
